What is the system?

This Notion template contains 3 databases: Tasks, Projects, and Notes

  • Tasks are individual tasks that you need to complete. Examples include: run the analysis, send the email to your supervisor, read the book for seminar. They can be as specific as you need them to be. The database includes fields that let you track progress, add tags, and assign due dates
  • Projects are self-contained collections of tasks and notes. This lets you get a focused view of everything you need to complete for that specific project. This Notion includes templates for general projects and for research specific projects!
  • Notes contains notes, documentation, or any explanation of concepts. Notion allows you to embed webpages, PDF’s, Google Docs, videos, and more into your pages. The notes database contains tags allowing you to organize your documents however you see fit!

The databases are connected

What makes this system work is that all the Tasks, Projects, and Notes are connected to one another via relational fields. This is as simple as selecting the appropriate item from the drop down list on every database. Use cases for this include:

  • Project specific views that only contain the tasks needed
  • Notes can be attached to any project or task for quick reference
  • Create collections of sub-tasks that depend on other task completion
